Maison Louis Jadot Santenots Volnay 1er Cru 2015

Bright, dark red. Ripe, expressive scents of cherry, flowers and menthol accented by blood orange; conveys an almost liqueur-like ripeness but comes across as utterly fresh. Silky, plush and full, with the wine’s very ripe fruit suggestions leavened by mineral lift; ultimately more salty than chocolatey. The tannins arrive late and coat the front teeth. This fruit was picked at the beginning, with at least 13.5% potential alcohol, according to technical director Frédéric Barnier. [Drink till 2028+.] Score – 91-93.
