Here’s an uncommonly structured and complex cabernet from Bob Betz MW in Washington State, with irresistible sapidity and impressive refinement and sophistication on the fully dry palate. There’s plenty of ultra-ripe fruit, mostly black, and fully integrated wood spice. Length, depth, and especially balance, are excellent. The kitschy label doesn’t really represent the quality of wine inside in my view – this is classic stuff, so don’t dwell on appearances. Drink or hold until the end of the decade. Tasted July 2022. Score – 93. (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com)
