Alandes (‘along the Andes’) seeks to offer Karim Mussi’s view of the mountain wines that arise from the foot of the mountains in the Uco Valley. In this blend, there’s merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot, and cabernet sauvignon from three places in Uco: La Consulta, Los Chacayes, and Gualtallary. They were fermented separately in concrete vats and then aged in barrels for 12 months. This is a dense wine full of aromatic nuances where lots of black fruits, spices, and herbal tones converge in a powerful body with pronounced acidity, although with very fine, well-shaped tannins. One to make room for in the cellar and to keep for many years. Score – 95. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2022)
