Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is just a little closed and broody to begin, opening out to earthy notes of damp soil, truffles and mossy tree bark over a core of crème de cassis, baked plums and fruitcake plus wafts of tar, dried sage and chargrill. Full-bodied, rich and wonderfully savory in the mouth, it has a rugged frame of chewy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. Drink date: 2019-2035. Score – 94.
