Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2023

The 2023 Clos Haut-Peyraguey is captivating. Scents of apricot, spice, tangerine peel, honey, marzipan and passion fruit caress the palate. There’s a greater focus on freshness these days, but Clos HautPeyraguey remains one of the more extroverted wines in Sauternes, as witnessed by its 164 grams of residual sugar. Some of that is surely a reflection of the year in this particular case. Even with its initial exuberance, the 2023 finishes with fine energy and tension. Drinking window: 2028-2053.
