Château Larrivet Haut-Brion 2021

The 2021 Larrivet Haut-Brion is a bit of a freak. The Merlot was decimated by frost, so the2021 is all Cabernet. Not surprisingly, strong Cabernet inflections mark the bouquet. Darkand beautifully layered, with terrific persistence, Larrivet Haut-Brion is going to be afascinating wine to watch over the coming years. The tannins need to soften, but there is agood deal of potential here. Hints of cedar, licorice and earthiness linger. Drinking window: 2026-2041. Score – 92-94.
