Domaine de Courcel Les Rugiens Pommard 1er Cru 2018

Deeper and more brooding still, the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens offers up aromas of ripe cherries, licorice, violets and a hint of toasty oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, creamy and fleshy, with a textural attack that rapidly gives way to a firm, chewy and muscular palate dominated by an abundance of tannin. Both very ripe and very extracted, this is the broadest-shouldered of de Courcel’s 2018s. Score – 88-90. (William Kelley, robertparker.com, Feb. 13, 2020)
