Paolo Conterno is a famous producer in Piemonte, who like others before him from the region have ventured into winemaking in Tuscany. This a blend of merlot and sangiovese … you must appreciate the edginess that the Piemonte perspective brings. It is high acid, fairly prosciutto/meatiness, herbal and funky on the nose and palate, yet the depth, intensity and length are impressive. Acid is brittle. Tannins are rigid; the length is excellent.
