This is a textbook cabernet-based red from a rich, ripe vintage that maintains the precision expected of excellent Bordeaux. Generous aromas of blackcurrant, fine oak spice and vanillin, mint and chocolate are effortly interwoven. It’s full bodied and fairly dense with the slightly softer acidity of the hot year, but the alcohol, tannin and fruit structure are very fine. No sense of heat on the finish, and the length is excellent to outstanding. You can certainly appreciate it now but it is so well constructed it could age for up to 20 years. Tasted July 2014. Score – 93. (David Lawrason, winealign.com)
