Smack in the middle of the Maipo Valley, the vineyards for this Gravas were planted in the first half of the 2000s on the alluvial soils on the southern bank of the Maipo River. Aging lasted 14 months, with 26% new oak. A fruit-forward syrah with tremendous fruity expression. The extractions have been more moderate in recent vintages, and that’s especially noticeable in this softer-bodied, lighter-textured version from a hot, dry year with lower yields and in which the fruit came straight from the vineyard loaded with flavor. A delicious syrah to drink now or to cellar for years. Score – 96. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2022)
