Vinified in new oak for 18 months, the intensely golden colored 2017 Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese No 10 Nouvelle Vague is quite oaky and more oxidative (or Jura-styled) than I remember from earlier vintages. It’s very interesting but very different and with less prominent fruit aromas. Sweet and rich, with tobacco, yeast and oaky flavors on the palate, this is a very refined, perfectly juicy and balanced Chardonnay TBA bottled with 6% alcohol and 334.7 grams per liter of residual sugar. Possibly the finest TBA I have tasted from Gerhard Kracher. Drink date: 2030-2050. Score – 98. (Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com, April 9, 2020)
