Yves Cuilleron Les Serines Saint-Joseph 2018

Bright purple. Powerful, spice-accented black and blue fruits, licorice and potpourri on the highly perfumed nose. Stains the palate with concentrated black raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors that take on spice and floral notes with aeration. Impressively concentrated and broad but energetic as well, finishing with sharp clarity, mounting tannins and emphatic, dark-fruit-driven persistence. These vines were originally planted in 1923 and 1936, with massal replacements taking place starting in the late 1980s. Drinking window: 2024-2033. Score – 94. (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, April 2020)
