Arzuaga Reserva Especial 2017

This very impressive Reserva Especial bottling is a medley of Tinto Fino and 3% Albillo Mayor, all sourced from 80 to 100-year-old vineyards on clay and limestone soils in the province of Burgos. Inky yet not overly powerful or dense, it’s a wine that combines concentration with freshness. Cassis and blackberry fruit flavours are framed by French oak, with 10% whole bunches adding extra nuance and structure. Drink date: 2024-2032. Score – 94. (timatkin.com, Ribera Special Report 2022)
