Atamisque Catalpa Malbec 2013

A 100% Malbec aged in oak and stainless steel, this clocks in at 14.8% alcohol. But the alcohol is well managed and there’s no sign of it on the nose or palate. Instead there’s the steady hum of ripe-sweet fruit that unrolls consistently through the palate. It’s well structured and pairs well with the seam of fresh acidity that’s there on the attack, palate, and finish to keep the weighty fruit light and the wine very drinkable. The tannins are easy-going, and this is a wine to drink now through to 2018, while it’s fresh. Score – 4 Stars (out of 5). (Rod Phillips, rodphillipsonwine.com, May 2016)
