The more different and wildest of the reds is the 2019 El Cerro Gualtallary, which shows the telltale violet, rockrose and other aromatic herbs of the place. It’s a co-fermentation of Malbec and some Cabernet Franc, a combination that seems to work wonders in this place, as the grapes complement each other and transmit the character of the limestone-rich soils in the texture and mouthfeel, a chalky and drying sensation that makes the wine long and very tasty, with an almost salty sensation in the finish. It has power, concentration, elegance and balance. Drink date: 2021-2029. Score – 95+. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, March 31, 2021)
