Clay and gravel soils near the Piave river, in the Veneto, rarely get credit for Cabernet Sauvignon, though Ca’ di Rajo’s bottling makes a case for the pairing. Red cherry and black pepper carry a savoury edge. The tannin stays soft and easy, built for a weeknight rather than the cellar. A touch of cocoa nib rounds out the last few sips. Burgers or grilled vegetables would make an easy, satisfying match. Not every red needs a special occasion, and this one seems to know it. Drink date: 2026-2030. (nataliemaclean.com,Oct. 24, 2026)
