Château Maucaillou 2021

A fragrant, concentrated wine, with plenty of rich black fruit flavours, touches of freshly picked peonies, and savoury aromas of cigar box, clove, and black licorice. This will need time to soften, but patience will be rewarded for this excellent-value Bordeaux. Serve it in a few years after an hour-long decant paired with steak frites or a hearty stew.
