Domaine de Montille En Champans Volnay 1er Cru 2016

The 2015 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has a very Volnay-like bouquet of plush red cherries and strawberry aromas, voluptuous and sensual while maintaining impressive delineation. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, fine tannin and grainy texture but palpable minerality toward the persistent finish. Backward, yes, but tons of potential. This was impressive in barrel and now it is impressive in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Drinking window: 2020-2038. Score – 93. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Nov. 13, 2018)
