Gérard Bertrand Heritage An 1886 Les Aspres Grenache Mourvèdre Syrah 2019

GB’s wines from individual villages are nearly always worth trying. The 2020 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Aspres An 1886 – a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre – features notes of cola, smoke, blueberries and cherries. It’s full-bodied, silky-smooth and st reamlined, not overdone, but nicely balanced. It’s long and fine on the finish, where it adds enlivening peppery notes. Drink date: [Now]-2027.
