GB’s wines from individual villages are nearly always worth trying. The 2020 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Aspres An 1886 – a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre – features notes of cola, smoke, blueberries and cherries. It’s full-bodied, silky-smooth and streamlined, not overdone, but nicely balanced. It’s long and fine on the finish, where it adds enlivening peppery notes. Drink date: [Now]-2027. Score – 90.
