Despite the high alcohol content, the ripe red fruits and the tension generated by the acidity and tannins make this red show nerve and a fresh side that’s a surprise, considering that 2020 was one of the hottest seasons in the last 20 years. This is generous in ripe fruit, rich in herbal tones, and has that tension that keeps the nerve going till the end. One to keep in the cellar for at least three years [or decant tonight for 60-90 minutes before serving]. This wine comes from grapes planted in the Gualtallary zone, toward the northern end of the Uco Valley, and about 1,450 meters above sea level. Score – 94. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2023)
