The aromas are so compelling, it’s easy to just smell this, taking in the heady blackcurrants/berries, charcuterie and a cook’s cupboard of baking spices, especially cocoa and star anise. Of course, there’s a seasoning of regional mint/eucalyptus, too. Full bodied, but there’s reticence on the palate, a youthful cabernet character. Tannins are a little wiry but textural, bolstered by oak. Vital and vibrant now, but time is going to be a good friend. Drink by: 2035. Score – 95. (Jane Faulkner, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 13, 2021)
