Howell Mountain Vineyards Howell Mountain Old Vine Zinfandel 2017

From vines planted before Prohibition, this balanced, burly red is sinewy, with components of black pepper, gravel, stone and iron. Red- and black-cherry fruit is rich and layered, with lovely contrasts of leather, tannin and spicy oak. Score – 92. (Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, July 1, 2020)
