The 2021 La Tapada was produced with Garnacha from an organically farmed (but not certified) 1.5-hectare 70-year-old vineyard in the village of Azagra, one of a handful of villages from Navarra that are included within Rioja, but it’s sold without appellation of origin. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and Flextank and matured in used 225-liter oak barrels, Flextanks and glass demijohn for 12 months. It has good ripeness, 14.5% alcohol, good freshness and acidity and a paler, brighter color. I love the elegance here. The wine is fine-boned and fresh, with less alcohol and more acidity. It feels fresher. It was bottled in March 2023. Drink date: 2023-2028. Score – 93+. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, May 31, 2023)
