This is a very elegant, quite deep and intense ‘super-Tuscan’ fifty-fifty, merlot-sangiovese blend grown in Montalcino. It is aged 24 months in 85% new barrels. It shows considerable oak spice, vanillin and cedar with some licorice. Nicely ripe black raspberry-plum fruit is cedar decked, spicy and vaguely herbal. It is quite refined, generous and dense. Considerable tannin suggests again it another two three years. Enjoyable now too, with some breathing. Last tasted Dec 2018. Score – 94. (David Lawrason, winealign.com)
