Someway curiously, this is aromatically less spicy than the Clos de la Roche as usually it’s the reverse. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the lilting yet denser and equally powerful middleweight flavors that conclude in a firm, moderately austere and strikingly long finale. This is terrific and while it will need at least a decade to be at its best, it should be approachable after 7ish or so years. Drink: 2034+. Score – 93-95.
