Moderate but not aggressive wood influence is present on the somber and reticent aromas of dark berry coulis, spice and a marked sauvage character. The caressing, mouth coating and deceptively supple broad-shouldered flavors immediately tighten up on the extremely firm, robust and powerful finish that exhibits terrific length. This is a classic Vaucrains in the sense of one that will require extended cellaring to soften the robust tannins. Drink: 2035+. Sweet spot. Outstanding. Score – 91-94.
