Despite the significant age of this Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, the wine is tight and tannic but with a bit of air, it begins to puff out juicy flares of cherry fruit, raspberries, hibiscus and laurel. The oak is secondary to the fruit in this remarkably concentrated expression of pinot noir. Perfectly clean but not stripped of its charm. It does evolve rather rapidly in the glass so don’t decant excessively. Notes of cranberry, red cherry, and fig linger on the finish of excellent length. Remarkably age-worthy. Best 2025-2030. Tasted March 2024. Score – 95. (Sara d’Amato, winealign.com)
