Marchesi Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2005

Saturated ruby-red color. Blackcurrant, licorice and a hint of spicy smoke on the nose. Juicy, spicy and penetrating, with lovely cut and intensity to its red fruit, oak and tar flavors. The long finish features building but smooth tannins and fresh acidity. (I will review Antinori’s famous Super-Tuscans Tignanello and Solaia in my upcoming coverage of the Tuscan coast.) Score – 90.
