I was very impressed with the 2022 Carigno de Maule, which was sourced from 80-year-old dry-farmed vines, fermented in stainless steel with 30% whole clusters and underwent a 20-month élevage in used barrique. A dark yet pretty, brooding yet gradually expressive bouquet continuously builds, introducing a taut, focused palate with a generously lush core. This tension continues through the searingly mineral finish, which is further buttressed by a persistent, stony, grainless grip. This would be right at home among the VIGNO collective, and I look forward to following its aging trajectory. Drink date: 2025-2033. Score – 94. (Matthew Luczy, robertparker.com, March 13, 2025)
