In 2016 Hardie’s cabernet franc carries a bit more weight and drive than previous vintages were wont or compelled to do, with some ripeness and texture not noted before. Here now dominated by rich red currant and quite a floral franc, from which lots of citrus bleeds with high acidity and the tart wanderings meander with great intensity. This is quite pure and unbridled joy of the house and place, the most Loire it’s ever connected to but clean, modern and directed by forward thinking. Drink 2019-2022. Score – 91.
