Inky ruby. Smoky, mineral-accented cassis, cherry and olive scents show fine definition and an exotic spice flourish. Densely packed but energetic dark fruit preserve, allspice and licorice flavors are complemented by a candied violet accent, and a peppery nuance emerges with air. Shows excellent concentration and finishes with a bright mineral cut, youthfully gripping tannins and floral-dominated persistence. The Saint-Pierre lieu-dit is the highest altitude site in Cornas and Jaboulet owns a whopping 3.9 hectares of it; 20% new oak. [Drink till 2033+.] Score – 93-95.
