Antinori’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne presents a dark expression of Sangiovese. This deeply-colored Brunello is made in a round, supple style with dark cherries, violets, tobacco and earthiness. It offers notable concentration in a fairly international style, with building but finessed tannins on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. Score – 92.
