Sourcing decent, varietally true Pinot Noir … is one of wine retailing’s most difficult missions, but this German bottling shows it is achievable – very pale in the glass, it combines fresh red cherries and strawberry jam with racy cranberry acidity, a touch of beetroot earthiness and light tannins.
