Sweet red cherries on the nose with cherry pit too against a savoury spice aspect, clove, vanilla and cinnamon. Tannins are mouthcoating and grippy with dark sweet liquorice, tar, burnt caramel, clove and blackcurrants. The whole palate feels quite darkly toned, rich and gently spiced with a cooling minerality underneath and at the end too which keeps it all lifted. Bold, structured and supremely powerful but still with plenty of glamour. It’s a confident wine barely flexing its muscles right now – all held in check with lots more to give. Gorgeously sexy and seductive. Still so young. Drinking Window: 2023-2035. Score – 98. (Georgina Hindle, decanter.com, March 15, 2022)
