The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino entrances with a wild mix of strawberry and raspberry preserves complemented by hints of mocha, clove and animal musk. It settles into a more savory and spicy display on the palate, where red berries and minerals are offset by zesty acidity. It leaves a coating of grippy tannins and enough residual energy to maintain balance, as hints of blood orange fade under an air of rosy inner florals. Drinking window: 2023-2027. Score – 90.
