Santa Ema Amplus One Carmenère 2019

The base of this wine (85% of the blend) is carmenere from the Peumo zone in the heart of the Cachapoal Valley. It’s a warm area, with soft breezes that blow through the Cachapoal River Basin, where carmenere can ripen easily. For additional acidity and tannic tension, it has 10% syrah, and the rest is carignan from Maule. This is a wine that’s juicy in character with very red fruits, very sharp acidity, and tannins that are firm but very elegant. [Drink through 2030.] Score – 93.
