Speri Vigneto Monte Sant’Urbano Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2003

This vineyard designate wine straddles a fine line between Old and New World. On the traditional side is a coulis of blackberry fruit (a pergola trellis is used for better grape aeration) and sweet spice. On the modern front are deep oak shadings. The final result is an excellent package and an example of very good winemaking. Score – 90. (Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2007)
