The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Ansari is dark and rich in the glass with a heady bouquet of crushed cherries, rosemary, mocha and sweet tobacco. This enters the palate with a pretty inner sweetness up front contrasted by a wave of tart red fruits and exotic spice, taking on a bitter hint of sour citrus toward the close. The 2017 finishes incredibly long, leaving a staining of primary concentration along edgy tannins that promise many years of further development. Drinking window: 2025-2030. Score – 94.
