The 2019 Malbec Zaha is co-fermented with 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot from the Toko vineyard in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley. The wine was aged for 12 months in 1/3 new French barrels. Purplish red in the glass. The expressive nose begins with fresh plum alongside cherry and violets accompanied by an undercurrent of country herbs. In the mouth where a terse texture is joined by a prominent chalky feel, juicy freshness and a nimble flow. The result is a subtle, thirst-quenching palate. The 2019 is a textbook Malbec for the region, anchored in purity. Drinking window: 2021-2034. Score – 94. (Joaquín Hidalgo, vinous.com, Nov. 2021)
