From meager, rocky soils with water-retentive loess loam subsoil, Barth’s Hattenheimer 2023 Hassel Riesling Auslese VDP.Grosse Lage is clear, pure, intense and savory on the nose that represents the stones rather than the loess due to its savoriness that intertwines with caramel and honey nuances and perfectly ripe fruit that breathes rock’s vapors. Very elegant and refined on the spontaneously stimulating palate, this is an irresistible and mouthwatering Auslese with great finesse and weightless elegance. This is generous in every respect and highly stimulating. This is a fabulous Auslese that already drinks well, but it will gain in complexity and lose its sweetness over the years in the bottle. 9% stated alcohol.
