Greystone Sauvignon Blanc 2019

This isn’t your classic Kiwi Sauvignon; it’s a dense and full style. Forget passion fruit and gooseberries – this is sprinkled with pear and rose-petal-like flavors, potentially the effect of the wild yeast. Fermented in neutral French barrels; the variety’s angular edges have been rounded and there’s a framework that provides structure on the finish. The flavor profile might not be universally appealing, but there’s no denying the quality of the fruit and the judicious winemaking. Drinking window: 2020-2023. Score – 92.
