Metzer Montane Chenin Blanc 2022

The only sad thing about this wine – made with grapes from a parcel on the Klein Helderberg Farm planted in 1964 – is that the vineyard has been grubbed up. So, if you love this wine as much as I do, buy some now. More concentrated and powerful than its stablemate Maritime, it’s an even more complex Chenin Blanc, with oatmeal, wax and lemon butter flavours and layers of stony intensity. RIP.
