Château Durfort-Vivens 2025

Rich blackcurrant aromatics, almost sweet and cool at the same time – smells so welcoming with some cola and flint touches too. The florality though is incredible, so aromatic. Svelte and long, this is focused with a clean, really sapid expression and gorgeous juiciness – almost with a sweetness that just makes you smile before focusing and straightening with a crushed stone aspect on the finish. More red fruits than black like Ferriere. Great construction with such gentle tannins, really quite flawless with a clear cola and flint aspect. A yield of 25hl/ha. Ageing 18 months, 45% new barrels, 40% foudres and 15% in amphoras. Drinking window: 2035-2048. (Georgina Hindle,decanter.com)
