Product Details
Warren Randall used to own the Yeenunga vineyard but sold it in ’95. There seems to have been some regret there, as he reacquired it in ’22, bringing it into the Penny’s Hill fold after his purchase of that estate the same year. Contour planted in ’72; 30% whole bunch; eight months’ élevage in concrete eggs and old French puncheons. There’s depth and transparency here, with glossy red cherries, redcurrant, wild raspberry, musk and Persian advieh spice blend, redolent of dried rose and warming aromatics. It’s got some proper tannin, stem and skin detail complexing, and it finishes savoury and long. This is the second release bearing the vineyard designate and, for me, it’s a step up. Excellent. Drink from: 2025. Drink by: 2034. (Marcus Ellis,winecompanion.com.au,June 30, 2025)
